About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a subject matter expert for HVAC controls offerings in the Segment vertical market
  • Provide technical expertise for HVAC system applications, interfaces, and third-party system integration
  • Monitor industry trends and assess impacts on product feature roadmaps
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on concept feasibility and technical issue resolution
  • Provide commercialization support for field office sales and operations
  • Author and review Engineering Bulletins, Application Guides, Best Practices, and Project Specifications
  • Present and instruct technical topics to internal and external audiences
  • Participate in customer visits and field events
  • Support critical customer projects, including job site work
  • Conduct voice-of-customer activities through interviews, focus groups, day-in-the-life studies, and advisory panels
  • Define scope and functional requirements for new and next-generation HVAC system applications
  • Design, develop, and deploy custom applications, control logic, sequences of operation, and application software across supervisory and edge platforms
  • Establish and execute application testing strategies using modeling, simulation, automated testing, laboratory, and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing
  • Support field trials, pilot deployments, and site rollouts, including troubleshooting and validation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required: BS in Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field; extensive directly relevant field experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • 8+ years in building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls execution, or system application engineering
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience with fulfillment of HVAC controls projects from initial handoff through system turnover strongly desired
  • Familiarity with software development principles and scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript, or software logic structuring for automation tools and workflows
  • Experience with multi-protocol gateway integrations, API-based smart building connections, and cloud-to-edge BAS network architectures
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Ability to work regularly, dependably, independently, and in a team environment
