About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, assembly, quality, and cost
  • Review product designs, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials to identify manufacturing risks and improvement opportunities
  • Provide DFM/DFA recommendations early in product development to reduce complexity, improve yield, and shorten production time
  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing, and quality teams on new product introduction and production readiness
  • Drive design improvements that enhance producibility, reliability, serviceability, and safety
  • Support prototype builds, pilot production, process validation, and manufacturing launch activities
  • Analyze root causes of manufacturing issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Evaluate tooling, fixtures, equipment, and production processes against product design requirements
  • Support cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
  • Develop and maintain documentation on manufacturing requirements, process improvements, and lessons learned
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews and provide technical input on manufacturability and process capability
  • Promote continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years combined experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, design for manufacturing, or new product introduction
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, welding, casting, molding, assembly, or related production methods
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and BOM structures
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with CAD systems and product lifecycle management tools preferred
  • Knowledge of Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost, and value engineering principles preferred
  • Familiarity with APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and process validation practices preferred
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools preferred
  • Exposure to global manufacturing environments and supplier collaboration preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC product, industrial equipment, or electromechanical product manufacturing is a plus
  • Regular travel expected, in some cases up to 50% if required
  • Safety-sensitive role; may require additional drug screening
