About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install building automation systems
  • Use hand tools and interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Install temperature control systems, including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices
  • Examine building layouts, anticipate difficulties, gather materials, and coordinate on-site work with other trades
  • Maintain assigned inventory, company equipment, tools, and documents
  • Complete job paperwork documenting daily time, progress, duration, and related activities
  • Submit required paperwork and reports on time
  • Serve as the direct customer contact on assigned projects
  • Service, identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems at customer locations
  • Stay current on Trane products and direct digital control system installation
  • Inspect and maintain vehicles, service records, manuals, repairs, and maintenance schedules
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain security and accountability of company assets
  • Travel regularly with occasional overnight stays
  • Work overtime and weeks as business needs require

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Typically at least 2–5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Working proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones and iPads
  • Knowledge of low voltage electricity
  • Knowledge of electronics and board-level troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of direct digital controls
  • Knowledge of building control techniques
  • Valid driver’s license held for a minimum of 12 months
  • No major or frequent traffic violations, including DUI, Hit & Run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, multiple smaller infractions, or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
  • Current or future participation in ABC electrical apprenticeship program is desired
  • Previous experience with DDC control systems preferred
  • Ability to pass additional drug screening for this safety-sensitive role
