About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Start and commission new HVAC/controls systems
Diagnose and repair environmental-control systems
Apply knowledge of electronics, direct digital control, airflow, refrigeration theory, and control and mechanical techniques
Service products and equipment on assigned projects at customer locations
Serve as the direct customer contact and ensure customer satisfaction
Identify, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems
Coordinate with the team leader and customer to understand on-site installation and repair requirements
Forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on-site work
Maintain current knowledge of Trane products, including installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems
Enforce high safety standards
Record use, wear, and condition of company-issued and procured assets
Maintain flexibility for overtime, business-required workweeks, and occasional overnight stays

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Typically 3–5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls
Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Working proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones and iPads
Valid driver’s license held for a minimum of 12 months
No major or frequent traffic violations, including DUI, hit-and-run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, multiple smaller infractions, or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
Previous experience with DDC controls systems preferred
EPA certification preferred
Technical school or formal training preferred
Must pass additional drug screening as applicable for this safety-sensitive role
Flexibility to work overtime and weeks as business requires, including occasional overnight stays
