About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane customers in a defined commercial market
  • Commission, troubleshoot, repair, and start up HVAC systems
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service requests
  • Replace and modify equipment or systems as needed or requested by customers
  • Communicate inspection and service findings to customers and Project Managers
  • Perform end-to-end testing, download programming, start up, commission, and service assigned projects
  • Serve as the direct customer contact for assigned products and equipment
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems at customer locations
  • Coordinate with team leaders and customers to understand on-site installation and repair requirements
  • Examine building layouts, forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on-site work
  • Use software, technology, hand tools, blueprints, and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain security and accountability of company-issued and procured assets
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers through oral and written communication
  • Work overtime and occasional overnight stays as business requirements dictate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience, and 2–5 years of experience in Commercial HVAC; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Working proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones and iPads
  • Valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months
  • No major or frequent traffic violations, including specified DUI, hit-and-run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, multiple smaller infractions, or preventable collisions
  • EPA Certification preferred, such as HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, or Gas Installer
  • Ability to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt
  • Ability to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harnesses, and safety boots
  • Ability to twist the trunk 90 degrees in each direction
  • Ability to squat and touch the floor with both hands
  • Ability to reach hands over the head
  • Ability to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
  • Ability to regularly use hands and fingers, walk, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders
  • Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs. regularly, up to 40 lbs. frequently, and more than 40 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less
  • Ability to maneuver confined access areas as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal
  • Ability to routinely access rooftops using ladders at heights of 15–20 feet and occasionally up to 50+ feet
  • Ability to work in variable weather, around moving mechanical parts, heights, electrical shock risks, noisy equipment, and other variable environmental conditions
