About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install building automation systems
  • Use hand tools and interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications to install temperature control systems, including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices
  • Prepare for on-site installation by examining building layouts, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work with other trades
  • Maintain assigned inventory stock, company equipment, tools, and vehicles
  • Document job activities, including daily time, progress, duration, paperwork, reports, files, and vehicle records
  • Serve as direct customer contact and service products and equipment on assigned projects
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems at customer locations
  • Keep current on Trane products related to direct digital control system installation
  • Inspect vehicles and maintain service, repair, and maintenance records
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain security and accountability of company-issued and procured assets
  • Travel regularly with occasional overnight stays
  • Work overtime and weeks as business requires, including occasional overnight stays
  • Maintain customer satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Typically at least 2-5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Working proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., Smartphone, iPad)
  • Knowledge of low voltage electricity
  • Knowledge of electronics, including board level troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of direct digital controls
  • Knowledge of building control techniques
  • Valid driver’s license held for a minimum of 12 months
  • No major or frequent traffic violations, including DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, multiple smaller infractions, or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
  • Current or future participation in ABC electrical apprenticeship program is desired
  • Previous experience with DDC controls system preferred
  • Safety Sensitive role may require passing additional drug screening
