About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Undertake comprehensive preventative maintenance and repairs on customer fleet vehicles
  • Diagnose faults and ensure replacement parts are fitted correctly and warranty claims comply with warranty terms
  • Complete end-of-shift handovers, including vehicle on-road or off-road status
  • Attend customer sites to carry out repairs
  • Complete job cards, service sheets, timesheets, and other paperwork accurately and efficiently
  • Undertake diagnostic analysis where appropriate
  • Build rapport and develop trust with internal and external customers
  • Contribute to cultural development, continuous process improvement, and operating practice improvements
  • Undertake training to become multi-skilled
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs, preventative maintenance, and modifications on customer vehicles and related ancillary equipment
  • Work as part of the team to achieve workshop financial and cultural objectives
  • Enforce company, industry, and legal health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Follow company Safe Systems of Work
  • Report accidents, risks, and near misses promptly
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and use assigned PPE and corporate uniform

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English (desirable)
  • Electrical and mechanical certificates (desirable)
  • NVQ in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience (desirable)
  • Experience working in a mechanical environment (desirable)
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical information (desirable)
  • Mechanical technical background (essential)
  • Ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision (essential)
  • Computer literacy (essential)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (essential)
  • Full driving licence
  • Flexibility to work at different locations when required
