About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a self-guided owner of power electronics projects
  • Develop project plans, prioritize tasks, achieve scheduled milestones, and identify quality and productivity improvements
  • Participate on teams resolving customer issues and making technology decisions
  • File patents for intellectual property and novel solutions
  • Translate end-product solutions into system and power electronic module requirements
  • Develop DC-DC converters, AC-DC-AC power conversion units, and other advanced devices
  • Translate end-product duty cycles into detailed requirements
  • Model thermal management, EMC/EMI compliance, and motor control algorithms
  • Analyze and simulate electromechanical rotational machines, power electronics, and control systems
  • Develop laboratory test plans and define strategic testing equipment
  • Lead qualification testing and analyze test data
  • Prepare technical reports covering design reliability, durability, and safety
  • Support supplier onboarding and part-release workflows, including engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications
  • Collaborate with product teams, customers, suppliers, Supply Chain, and Procurement to resolve technical issues and integrate new technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Engineering Physics
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant electrical engineering work experience
  • Strong interest in HVAC applications, industrial refrigeration equipment operating conditions, and battery energy storage systems
  • Experience with electric systems simulation software, including MATLAB SimScape and PLECS
  • Ability to present data explaining why one architecture is preferred over another
  • Strong understanding of embedded control systems
  • Ability to specify and integrate different modules into a functioning system
  • Experience with system communications, message databases, and analysis tools preferred
  • Ability to develop custom engineering scripts for design verification tests
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical information for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage small-scale projects, establish priorities, track risks and obstacles, and meet tight deadlines
  • Competency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
