About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create quotes for service agreements and quoted work in support of Service Account Managers and Controls Service Account Managers
- Prepare cost estimates for materials, subcontractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other construction-related activities
- Develop detailed scopes based on Account Managers’ design-build scopes
- Create detailed cost estimates, system sketches, scope definitions, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposals, vendor/subcontractor quotes, and points lists
- Perform take-offs and pricing of purchased equipment, ensuring quantity, size, configuration, voltage, and options are accurate
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and project risk items
- Stay current with industry standards to maintain competitive advantage
- Develop subcontractor scopes of work
- Optimize job costs by negotiating vendor/subcontractor prices
- Hold job pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy
- Work with Trane Account Managers and building owners to provide HVAC service project and agreement estimates and quotes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology or related study preferred
- 1–3 years’ related estimating experience, or 5 years HVAC Technician experience
- Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; practical experience and relevant skills prioritized
- Working knowledge of construction, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems preferred
- Financial and business acumen preferred
- Experience running projects on time and on budget preferred
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines in a high-paced environment
- Attention to detail
- Experience working directly with building owners is a plus
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required
- May require passing additional drug screening due to safety-sensitive role
