About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Undertake comprehensive preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Diagnose faults and ensure replacement parts are fitted correctly and warranty claims comply with warranty terms
  • Complete end-of-shift handovers, including vehicle on/off-road status
  • Answer VMU telephone enquiries promptly and professionally
  • Attend customer sites to carry out repairs
  • Complete job cards, service sheets, timesheets and other paperwork accurately and efficiently
  • Perform diagnostic analysis where appropriate
  • Build rapport and develop trust with internal and external customers
  • Contribute to an effective and proactive cultural environment
  • Support the effective operation of the VMU
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of VMU processes, methods and operating practices
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs, preventative maintenance and modifications on customer vehicles and ancillary equipment
  • Work as part of the team to achieve workshop financial and cultural objectives
  • Report accidents, risks and near misses without delay
  • Maintain exceptional housekeeping standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English, electrical and mechanical certificates, NVQ in mechanical engineering or relevant experience (desirable)
  • Experience of working in a mechanical environment (desirable)
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical information (desirable)
  • Essential mechanical technical engineering experience
  • Ability to work with minimal day to day supervision
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Flexibility to work at different locations when required, covering leave, sickness and workload
  • Ability to undertake necessary training to become multi skilled
  • Must adhere to Company, Industry and Legal Health, Safety & Environmental standards
  • Must understand and adhere to Company Safe Systems of Work
  • Must use PPE appropriately and wear allocated corporate uniform
