About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate and maintain a Landfill Gas to Renewable Natural Gas plant and associated equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform housekeeping, weeding, site maintenance, minor fabrication, and related plant tasks
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
- Learn and maximize SCADA utilization for predictive and proactive operations and maintenance
- Perform maintenance and repairs on major and ancillary equipment, including gas analyzers, compressors, pumps, filters, flares, gas treatment equipment, and other site equipment
- Use the Operational Data Management System to track events, operational data, and daily walk-around readings
- Assist with plant compliance, record keeping, inspections, permits, compliance equipment, and regulatory meetings
- Respond to plant callouts, typically within 2 hours
- Assist with training coworkers and temporary operators
- Travel to other plants for operational support, backup coverage, or training
- Use and help develop ESI Standard Operating Procedures
- Maximize plant efficiencies
- Report to the Director of RNG Operations and work closely with the Plant Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–5 years of plant operations or related experience
- Trade school certification, high school diploma, or GED
- Strong mechanical aptitude and background
- Ability to read and understand basic Process Flow Diagrams and Electrical Schematics
- Ability to use basic troubleshooting tools, including multimeters, thermographic equipment, measurement equipment, and gas testing equipment
- Basic Windows-based computer skills
- Established troubleshooting skills
- Experience in maintenance planning and preventative maintenance strategies
- General working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently, self-motivate, and communicate effectively with customers and ESI team members
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts
- Ability to safely climb ladders and large equipment and lift/maneuver objects weighing up to 100 pounds with team-member assistance
- Compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and mandatory drug/alcohol testing
- Valid driver's license for state of residence and eligibility for coverage under ESI's corporate driver's insurance policy
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%
- Preferred: experience in renewable energy, gas processing, chemical, power, waste management, or environmental air quality control systems
- Preferred: instrumentation and controls background, including PLC, VFD, and electrical
- Preferred: Renewable Natural Gas experience
- Preferred: associate or baccalaureate degree
- Preferred: formal training in Root Cause Analysis methodology
- Experience with process optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in an energy or manufacturing environment
- Experience with process metrics and KPI reporting
- Experience tuning control loops
