About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead medical content strategy and delivery for sparsentan within Global Medical Affairs
  • Ensure deliverables are scientifically accurate, compliant, and aligned with medical objectives
  • Partner across Global Medical and with internal and external stakeholders to translate evolving evidence into cohesive, timely, and impactful communications
  • Lead development of the scientific narrative and story arc
  • Collaborate with Publication and Congress & Medical Education teams to create holistic communication plans
  • Develop the strategic medical content plan and oversee new medical content aligned with Medical Affairs objectives
  • Develop communication campaigns for key focus areas
  • Lead Medical Content team and meetings
  • Partner with Medical Evidence Generation and Publication Leads on strategic content
  • Partner with Digital Engagement & Innovation on innovative digital content
  • Oversee vendors and review content for strategic alignment
  • Serve as subject matter expert for content development processes, best practices, medical-legal review, and external guidelines
  • Make timely recommendations and decisions while balancing priorities and trade-offs
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies, escalating when needed
  • Build cross-functional alignment through communication, partnership, and follow-through
  • Adapt plans and content as evidence and priorities evolve while maintaining scientific integrity and product-strategy alignment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • PharmD or PhD in a related life sciences discipline
  • 10+ years of experience across scientific communications and medical affairs in life sciences
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional programs spanning multiple deliverables and timelines
  • Experience developing and managing a long-term story arc and medical content strategy and plan aligned to product strategy and medical objectives
  • Experience directing or reviewing content development
  • Experience in nephrology and/or rare diseases preferred
  • Broad knowledge of the drug development process, with a focus on integrated planning across early- and late-stage portfolios
  • CMPP certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs
  • Familiarity with Veeva and PubStrat Max is a plus
  • Professional experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, preferably small molecule pharmaceuticals
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a complex environment while managing multiple concurrent initiatives with attention to detail and delivery discipline
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions
  • Executive presence to engage senior leadership across the business and represent the Scientific Communications function with credibility and authority
  • Ability to travel 15% to 25% domestically and internationally
  • Ability to work face-to-face with colleagues, including onsite presence in San Diego
