About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic and tactical support for nephrology programs under the supervision of the Executive Director, Global Medical Affairs, Nephrology
  • Lead interactions and collaboration with external experts
  • Develop and deliver scientific engagement activities, including advisory boards
  • Support medical-led scientific meetings, such as the RKD Scientific Summit
  • Collaborate with the scientific communication team on scientific messaging and content
  • Support publication planning, medical education activities, and congress planning
  • Collaborate with field medical partners on external expert interactions, evidence generation activities, and team training
  • Lead Medical Affairs competitive intelligence activities and communicate actionable recommendations
  • Represent Medical Affairs at Medical Review Committee and Promotional Review Committee meetings
  • Support the Executive Medical Director with commercial and payor-related activities
  • Support annual Medical Strategic planning and life-cycle management plans
  • Partner with Strategy & Operations to ensure effective processes and systems for the Nephrology Therapeutic Area
  • Manage vendors and budgets to drive corporate efficiency
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MD, MD/PhD, or PharmD/PhD in related Life Sciences discipline; equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered
  • 6+ years of highly relevant work experience
  • Experience within Medical Affairs in biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry, including experience supporting products in clinical development and/or commercialization preferred
  • Strong understanding of drug development and commercialization concepts
  • Orphan diseases knowledge/experience preferred
  • Pre- and post-launch experience in rare disease preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to influence important customers, challenge common perceptions and implement medical affairs tools to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and execute against key objectives and deliverables on time and within budget
  • Understanding of compliance matters and ability to interpret appropriately
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with relevant ethical, regulatory, and legal standards
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions in a fast-paced organization
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment
  • Excellent collaboration skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complexity
  • Ability to travel, with anticipated travel up to 40%, and manage a rigorous schedule including some evenings and weekend availability
