About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and manage global LIVE Scores infrastructure across football, basketball, Formula 1, cricket, golf, boxing, tennis, and other sports
Integrate Enetpulse sports-data APIs
Develop a scalable, provider-independent backend supporting hundreds of competitions worldwide
Design the architecture to allow partial or complete replacement of Enetpulse with alternative data providers
Integrate sports-data APIs for live events, results, standings, rankings, fixtures, and statistics
Design flexible data models for team sports, motorsports, individual competitions, and combat sports
Build real-time data processing, synchronization, caching, and monitoring systems
Develop APIs supporting unique frontend experiences for each sport
Ensure data accuracy, reliability, scalability, and efficient provider switching
Connect sports information to OleOle’s existing microblogging platform without interfering with its 4U recommendation system
Independently architect, implement, test, and maintain production backend systems
Collaborate with existing frontend, design, frontend engineering, and UX/UI teams
Take full ownership of the LIVE Scores backend

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of professional backend engineering experience
Strong proficiency in backend development using Node.js, Python, Go, Java, or similar technologies
Proven experience integrating complex third-party APIs and external data providers
Experience designing scalable, real-time data processing systems
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, database optimization, and caching strategies
Experience with WebSockets, message queues, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems
Ability to design flexible, provider-independent data models and API architectures
Experience handling high-volume data synchronization, error recovery, and fault tolerance
Strong understanding of REST APIs, data normalization, and microservices
Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
Ability to independently architect, implement, test, and maintain production backend systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with frontend engineers and UX/UI designers
Experience with sports-data providers such as Enetpulse, Sportradar, SportsDataIO, or similar platforms is highly desirable
Familiarity with LIVE Scores, sports statistics, rankings, standings, or sports betting data is a significant advantage
Ability to understand and model fundamentally different sporting structures across team and individual sports
Understanding of football and international sports is a huge plus
