About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee medical record and correspondence requests, including process improvement and document creation
  • Manage MRR and letter handling/process improvement

  • Manage team workflows to maintain quality standards and productivity
  • Provide inventory management coverage during periods of overflow
  • Conduct quality assurance monitoring for HIM staff
  • Collaborate with leadership, team members, vendors, and clients to improve processes and strengthen client and vendor communications
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy and security laws, including HIPAA, and safeguard health information from unauthorized access
  • Manage electronic health records and, as necessary, paper records
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Complete compliance requirements requested by business partners, including background and drug screenings and disclosures of personal health information or personally identifiable information

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health information management
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential in good standing
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience training others
  • Experience leading or managing a team
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Experience in health information management
  • Ability to work in or around computers and printers
  • Ability to perform sedentary work involving prolonged sitting
  • Ability to type and perform repetitive computer-related motions throughout the day
