About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct research on the computational and machine learning aspects of human-robot interaction
- Apply foundation models to human-robot interaction, focusing on human-robot collaboration and robotic manipulation
- Research novel approaches for efficiently learning how humans and robots collaborate
- Develop AI approaches and embodied interactive policies for novel human interactions
- Perform research and publish on relevant topics in venues such as ICRA, CVPR, NeurIPS, and HRI
- Explore computational and cognitive phenomena to understand, predict, and interact with humans
- Work with researchers to create new approaches
- Take approaches from inception and ideation through validation
- Work on a specific research sub-area toward top-tier conference publications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ph.D. in related fields (by end date): ML/AI, robotics, human-centric AI, or computer vision
- Some experience with robot systems
- Strong publications record in top ML/robotics venues
- Experience with robot foundation models and their use for human interaction
- Experience with ML and synthetic data for human-collaborative embodied reasoning
- Experience with imitation/reinforcement learning
- Experience with learning-based shared control and planning for human interactions
- Python coding experience
- Experience working in a team on joint scientific projects
- Experience training deep learning models in PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Ability to refine a topic and execute a scientific research plan in collaboration with other researchers
