About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate clinical significance of sequence, copy number and structural variants found by microarray, NGS assays and Optical Genome Mapping
  • Search internal datasets, published literature, online mutation databases and academic resources for information on variants detected in clinical testing
  • Interpret clinical significance of variants using ACMGG or CAP/AMP/ASCO Guidelines
  • Prepare variant assessment summaries
  • Draft clear and concise clinical genetic testing reports
  • Work closely with Laboratory Geneticists to ensure reporting standards are met or exceeded

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in Medical Genomics (MHSc) OR Master of Science (MSc) in Human Genetics and/or Genetic Counselling
  • MLT certification in Molecular Genetics and/or Cytogenetics is an asset
  • Several years of experience working in a clinical genetics laboratory is preferred
  • Experience in advanced genetic laboratory applications, including array technologies and next generation sequencing
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English
  • Knowledge of commercially available tertiary analytical software applications
  • Effective critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Collaborative team player
