About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead multiple civil engineering design teams in daily operations
Lead design and execution of Site Development and Land Development projects throughout the Midwest
Develop staffing needs and distribute work to balance team workloads
Monitor project scope, schedules, budgets, workload, utilization, and billable hours
Provide technical guidance, quality control, and review of civil design calculations and construction documents
Mentor staff and support career development and office/company growth
Prepare proposals and contracts and manage projects
Oversee site layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, SWPPP plans, feasibility studies, due diligence, zoning analyses, and engineering plans
Maintain strong client, municipality, and regulatory agency relationships
Coordinate with multidisciplinary MSG teams, including Surveying, Environmental, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Landscape Architecture, Funding Strategies/Grant Writing, and Construction Administration
Deliver work tasks on time and within budget

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience leading and overseeing civil engineering teams
Experience with land development, site development, and commercial site design projects
Ability to manage team operations, project execution, workload distribution, and staff performance
Experience mentoring and developing civil engineers and designers
Knowledge of site layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, and SWPPP plans
Ability to review and approve engineering plan sets, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages
Experience with feasibility studies, due diligence reports, zoning analyses, stormwater modeling and design, and detailed engineering plans
Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards
Ability to build relationships with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, resources, schedules, and budgets
Business development, proposal, and project pursuit experience
Must work out of the Columbus, OH office on a full-time basis
Willingness to relocate if not local; relocation assistance is available
