About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop HVAC designs and engineering solutions for commercial, institutional, and other building projects, including load calculations, equipment sizing, and technical analysis
  • Create and update mechanical drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines
  • Conduct weekly field investigations and site visits
  • Support construction administration through site observations, submittal reviews, RFIs, and related project activities
  • Manage assigned design tasks independently
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on technical decisions, quality control, and final design review
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, technical reports, and project documentation
  • Apply applicable codes and standards, including IBC, IMC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and IECC
  • Communicate with project teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Support plumbing and energy-efficiency projects as opportunities arise

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably within an HVAC consulting environment
  • EIT certification or progress toward obtaining an EIT preferred
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Experience with Revit or other BIM software preferred
  • Experience with HVAC load calculation software, such as Trane TRACE, preferred
  • Experience with plumbing design, energy efficiency, or energy modeling is a plus
  • Willingness to work approximately 3–4 days per week in the office
  • Willingness to travel periodically for fieldwork
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position
  • Successful criminal background check required
