About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure costs and revenues are accurately reported for all projects for month-end, accounting, and project-related reporting
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain budgets
  • Approve subcontractor invoices and consolidate invoicing packets
  • Maintain project folders and ensure project documentation is accurate and complete
  • Prepare and review client invoices and supporting documentation monthly or as requested
  • Ensure timely, accurate billing and resolve invoicing discrepancies
  • Support project budgeting and financial reporting
  • Monitor costs, identify budget variances and financial risks, and work with Project Managers to address concerns
  • Maintain and reconcile project information, billing data, and financial records
  • Monitor outstanding invoices, assist with collections, and resolve payment issues
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, and the finance team
  • Attend project meetings and provide timely reports
  • Help staff follow invoicing procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Participate in finance and operations meetings
  • Recommend workflow improvements and provide backup accounting support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3-5 years of work experience required in project accounting or a similar role
  • Experience in a deadline-driven, project-based environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple, simultaneous tasks
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Experience in engineering, construction, or architecture preferred
  • Experience with Deltek or VantagePoint preferred
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
