About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and analyze roadway and regional flood control facilities
  • Prepare studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects
  • Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder management, and sub-consultant coordination
  • Interface with state and local agency clients
  • Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders
  • Coordinate with office management and project managers to share resources
  • Assist with proposal preparation, including oral presentations
  • Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to complete projects
  • Take ownership of projects from start to finish

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
  • 8–15+ years of professional hydraulics design experience
  • Experience designing roadway drainage and flood control facilities
  • Experience designing erosion control and water control facilities
  • Experience and relationships with transportation and flood control agencies are highly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other applicable drainage engineering software
  • Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic software, including HEC-1, HEC-2, and HEC-RAS
  • Experience with DOT and Local Agency plan preparation procedures and standards
  • Significant experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteria
  • Knowledge of DOT, AASHTO, and FHWA highway drainage design criteria and guidelines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact and work cooperatively with clients and multidisciplinary team members
  • Ability to multitask across multiple projects
  • Willingness to work on local projects or in workshare arrangements with other offices
  • Proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
  • Experience managing technical staff and project teams
  • Desire to grow personally and professionally in a team environment
