About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and analyze interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges and intersections, urban and rural roadways, and trails
  • Prepare studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects
  • Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder management, and sub-consultant coordination
  • Interface with state and local agency clients
  • Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders
  • Coordinate with office management and project managers to share resources
  • Lead Roadway Design teams
  • Assist in proposal preparation, including oral presentations
  • Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to complete projects
  • Take ownership of projects from start to finish
  • Work more than 40 hours per week under the company’s comp-time policy, receiving equivalent hourly pay or additional PTO

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
  • 8–15+ years of professional experience in roadway design
  • Experience and relationships with transportation agencies are highly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other applicable transportation engineering software
  • Experience designing freeways, interchanges, highways, arterials, and shared-use paths
  • Experience with DOT plan preparation procedures and standards
  • Experience with Local Agency plan preparation procedures and standards
  • Significant experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteria
  • Hydraulics and Traffic experience is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact and work cooperatively with clients and multidisciplinary team members
  • Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
  • Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices
  • Proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
  • Experience managing technical staff and project teams
  • Desire to grow personally and professionally in a team environment
