About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze, design, and prepare plan sheets for signing, striping, and MOT/traffic control for interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges, and intersections
  • Prepare studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from start to finish with minimal oversight
  • Function as a technical specialist on small- to mid-scale projects
  • Coordinate and lead traffic discussions with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to complete transportation projects
  • Assist in managing assignments, workloads, and training/mentoring traffic group staff
  • Assist managers and leads with resource sharing
  • Work with senior engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver high-quality traffic design solutions improving safety and mobility

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
  • 4–8 years of experience in traffic engineering design with a focus on signing and MOT
  • Knowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD, and other applicable transportation engineering software
  • Hands-on experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and/or Vissim preferred
  • Experience in roadway design preferred
  • Experience with DOT plan preparation procedures and standards
  • Experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteria
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact and work cooperatively with client and multidisciplinary team members
  • Desire to grow personally and professionally while working in a team environment
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is required
