About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct regulatory screening and permitting gap analyses for new mining projects, expansions, and amendments
- Prepare permit applications and coordinate technical inputs from hydrogeology, water quality, aquatics, terrestrial, and engineering disciplines
- Track and respond to regulator information requests and review comments through the approval process
- Organize, analyze, and interpret surface water and groundwater data
- Participate in technical meetings with clients, regulators, and Indigenous groups
- Manage assigned tasks within scope, schedule, and budget
- Contribute to proposals and larger multidisciplinary projects
- Join occasional field programs with other disciplines, including travel to remote mine sites
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience
- Demonstrated experience preparing or contributing technical content to environmental permit applications for mining projects
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial/territorial environmental legislation relevant to mining
- Experience managing tasks or project components, including scope, schedule, and budget
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
- Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Experience with assimilative capacity studies, water quality data interpretation, and wastewater management planning
- Experience with mine closure planning and financial assurance
- Consulting experience
- Experience with federal or provincial environmental assessment processes
- Professional accreditation (P.Eng. or P.Geo.), or eligibility for accreditation
