About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage approximately 125–150 highly complex workers’ compensation indemnity claims in the Texas jurisdiction from inception through resolution
- Evaluate difficult compensability, medical, disability, and litigation issues
- Develop claims resolution strategies
- Establish and adjust reserves and authorize payments and settlements within assigned authority limits
- Direct defense counsel and evaluate litigation strategy, significant legal developments, and settlement recommendations
- Prepare detailed captioned reports covering claim status, exposure, reserves, litigation strategy, and recommended resolution
- Escalate matters exceeding assigned authority or requiring management involvement
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced Claims Examiners without formal supervisory responsibility
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- Three (3) or more years related experience
- Advanced knowledge of Texas workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and claims handling requirements
- Ability to independently manage highly complex, litigated, and high-exposure claims with minimal supervisory guidance
- Ability to evaluate claims exposure, develop resolution strategies, and exercise sound judgment within assigned authority
- Certification and/or license as required by State regulation
- Ability to perform the stated mental and physical requirements, including sedentary work, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements
