About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead an integrated product team in developing new products
  • Communicate with customers on technical and project management topics
  • Prepare component specifications, test procedures, test reports, and compliance matrices
  • Prepare and present product design reviews to internal and external customers
  • Oversee and direct mechanical test setup and testing activities
  • Organize team-level RCCA activities to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical products, including hydromechanical controls and/or thermal systems
  • Review and monitor schedules and budget commitments and communicate risks to management
  • Ensure new product development procedures are followed and document continuous improvements and lessons learned
  • Support Operations in meeting financial objectives through acceptance test and build standards aligned with Design to Cost objectives
  • Identify and implement process and product improvements for new and legacy products
  • Execute cross-functional activities and drive projects to key milestones
  • Foster working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal departments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required
  • Five years minimum experience in a project engineering role for aerospace or military mechanical products
  • Mechanical design aptitude with a basic understanding of modern mechanical design practices, including bolted joints, o-ring glands, bearings, shafts, splines, external gear pumps, poppet valves, and spool valves
  • Hands-on mechanical product assembly, inspection and/or testing experience
  • Ability to read and understand detailed-part and assembly drawings, including GD&T
  • Familiarity with structural analysis including FMEA and basic hand calculations
  • Familiarity with technical writing practices and ability to structure a clear and concise technical document
  • Understanding of project budgets, earned value metrics, schedules, and resource planning
  • Experience working in product development teams and coordinating resources for successful program execution
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • PMP certification, MS or MBA degree a plus
