About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform inspection and checking duties on parts, subassemblies, completed assemblies, and incoming materials
- Check parts for proper fit before welding and brazing
- Check parts for specified weldments, proper part placement, template dimensions, and blueprint dimensional conformity
- Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet purchase specifications
- Maintain inspection records
- Detect and report defective materials and questionable cases to appropriate supervision
- Maintain work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition
- Follow prescribed safety procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of the workplace and equipment, free of FOD
- Train other employees as needed
- Sweep and dust floors, tables, and equipment
- Move parts manually or with appropriate handling equipment
- Work with internal stakeholders and external customers to support quality objectives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to read and write, interpret measurements and readings, and exercise sound independent judgment
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and work process instructions
- Ability to move parts and equipment safely
- Ability to work appropriately with others in a team environment and willingness to assist, educate, and train others
- Ability to use hand tools and inspect gauges
- Compliance with applicable safety and health rules and regulations, including respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs when applicable
- Compliance with FAA requirements for a “safety sensitive” position
- High school diploma or GED required
- Permanent authorization to work in the United States required
- Ability to read simple blueprints and specifications
- Ability to use basic measuring tools
- Knowledge of AQL levels and their function in inspection criteria
- Attention to detail and eye/hand coordination
- Ability to pass vision testing
- High School or Technical School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Technology is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years in quality inspection/machining, including final, source, and in-process inspection, in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of geometric tolerancing, gages, micrometers, borescopes, and other measuring tools
- Problem identification and resolution skills
- Experience with quality management systems compliant with AS9100 preferred
- Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection Report requirements preferred
- Ability to apply geometry and trigonometry skills to solve problems and calibrate equipment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer focus
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
- For applicable US export-controlled positions, must be a US Person under ITAR or eligible for approval for a US Government export license
