About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a strategic partner and day-to-day HR resource for assigned administrative departments
  • Support the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through development, retention, and offboarding
  • Partner with department leaders, practice group leadership, attorneys, and employees to strengthen relationships, morale, productivity, and retention
  • Guide employees and departments on HR programs and services, facilitate issue resolution, and escalate concerns
  • Address sensitive and complex employee matters and work toward constructive, timely outcomes
  • Conduct team check-ins and provide policy guidance, coaching, counseling, career development support, corrective action, and performance feedback
  • Collaborate with Business Professional Recruiting on staff selection
  • Ensure consistent firm-wide application of HR policies and support federal, state, and local compliance
  • Coach managers through staff development and performance discussions
  • Design and coordinate employee relations initiatives, development programs, events, orientation, and recognition programs
  • Develop and improve HR policies and employee lifecycle processes using technology to streamline workflows
  • Conduct objective, well-documented investigations into complex employee relations issues under the Director of HR
  • Align HR strategies with business objectives and execute firm-wide initiatives
  • Lead new hire orientation
  • Coordinate with the Benefits Department on employee information and benefit administration
  • Manage exit documentation, offboarding logistics, exit interviews, and exit-procedure compliance
  • Partner with the Workday team to maintain employee data and records
  • Maintain confidentiality of firm and employee information

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of training, education, and experience to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential duties
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive Human Resources management experience
  • Track record of growing responsibility and demonstrated impact across core HR functions
  • Substantial experience in direct people management and employee relations
  • Strong command of HR principles, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and cultivate productive relationships
  • Proficiency in analyzing workforce data
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, organizational, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise tact, confidentiality, and good judgment
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to client service, ethical conduct, and firm values
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently in remote, hybrid, and in-office settings
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP designation beneficial
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment preferred
