About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise developers, landlords/landowners and operators on procurement, negotiation and management of heat networks
  • Advise on energy projects, including solar, wind and battery storage
  • Advise on large-scale retrofit programmes, including grant-funded, Energy as a Service and subscription models
  • Advise on microgrids and private wire arrangements
  • Support regulatory matters relating to electricity generation, distribution and supply, and heat networks
  • Advise on utility connections, including ICP and IDNO arrangements
  • Advise on Power Purchase Agreements, Heat Supply Agreements and other energy-related contracts
  • Advise on EV chargepoints and related infrastructure
  • Participate in marketing and business development initiatives, including articles, events and client seminars
  • Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to the team's market profile
  • Work collaboratively with construction, real estate, planning, corporate, banking and tax teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Up to 4 years' relevant post-qualification experience gained from a reputable firm or in-house
  • A seat or demonstrable experience in an energy, projects or other equivalent commercial department
  • Experience on regulatory issues relating to utilities
  • Experience reviewing and advising on energy projects and/or complex commercial transactions
  • Specific experience on heat network projects is beneficial
  • Excellent technical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong client focus and ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal with innovative structures and bespoke documents
  • Drive, enthusiasm, and collaborative approach
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent academic record
