About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support all aspects of medical practice under the direct supervision of the licensed practitioner
- Manage patient care, laboratory draws and processing, and administrative and clinical procedures
- Maintain effective relationships with the Clinical Manager, Center Manager, and Laboratory Manager
- Perform aseptic procedures, take vital signs, prepare patients, observe and report symptoms, provide basic first aid, use AEDs and EKGs, and operate medical equipment
- Prepare and break down medical instruments for in-office procedures
- Administer injections and medications as directed by the licensed practitioner
- Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory procedures and required laboratory quality controls
- Perform front- and back-office administrative duties, telephone calls, correspondence, and office procedures
- Check patients in and out through the EMR and provide required paperwork
- Schedule follow-up appointments and maintain complete patient documentation in the EMR
- Prepare, label, package, and route specimens using third-party laboratory systems
- Complete 48-hour chart checks for pre-visit planning and lab orders
- Participate on a multidisciplinary team to provide safe patient care
- Maintain unit cleanliness, restock supplies, and assist with supply orders
- Support after-hours or weekend events as needed
- Act as a first-level contact for providers and support staff when troubleshooting issues
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, regulatory, and AAAHC requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completion of Medical Assistant Training, Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
- Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) license
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook
- Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience, Preferred
- Registered by the American Medical Technologists, Preferred
- Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants, Preferred
- Experience with Epic, Preferred
- Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health experience, Preferred
- Ability to perform clinical tasks including aseptic procedures, vital signs, patient preparation, basic first aid, AED use, EKGs, injections/medications, laboratory procedures, and medical equipment operation
- Ability to comply with HIPAA, confidentiality, infection control, regulatory, and AAAHC requirements
- Ability to maintain current auto insurance and travel using a personal vehicle as necessary
- Ability to pass a post-offer drug and alcohol screen and comply with random screenings
- Ability to lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds
- Availability for Monday–Thursday 8am–6pm, Fridays 8am–12pm, and occasional off-hours or off-days as needed
