About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Servicing and Asset Management department as an oversight role for insurance monitoring and compliance for commercial loans
- Provide quality control and oversight for insurance waiver requests, blanket analysis, flood analysis and force placement
- Serve as portfolio team lead and subject matter expert on lender guidelines, processes and requirements
- Review and approve premium disbursements
- Assist with Insurance Team audit preparation and responses
- Work with insurance-related vendors to ensure timely deliverables, product quality and oversight
- Mentor, train and provide leadership to Insurance Analysts
- Monitor team compliance with policies and procedures
- Monitor insurance renewals and assigned portfolio documentation for timely compliance
- Review, analyze and interpret property and liability insurance policies for commercial real estate loans
- Review loan and collateral data, including replacement cost, loss of income calculations, third-party reports and local ordinances
- Complete blanket and flood analysis for complex policies
- Correspond with lenders, borrowers, insurance agents and insurance companies to resolve non-compliance issues
- Gather documentation and assess feasibility and risk for lender insurance waiver requests
- Monitor non-compliance escalation for potential force placement and facilitate force-placed insurance
- Review casualty losses and advise clients on insurance coverage and loss proceeds requirements
- Assist with new loan setup, significant events, loan transfers, flood zone monitoring, audit data gathering, system enhancement testing and special projects
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert and resolve insurance-related discrepancies
- Update loan servicing systems, shared drives and lender applications thoroughly and timely
- Recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency
- Serve as primary insurance contact for an assigned portfolio
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5 years of experience in Commercial Property insurance
- Knowledge of various types of commercial property insurance policies and ability to read/interpret them
- Commercial insurance agency and/or servicing work experience
- Insurance compliance background, including coverage discrepancies, industry standards and government regulations
- Understanding of complex loan documents and third-party reports such as appraisals, surveys and title
- Ability to work with teammates and customers at all levels within an organization
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook and Word
- Excellent time management and ability to multi-task, follow through on commitments, meet deadlines and drive results
- Ability to work well under pressure and within tight time constraints, including processing high volumes and working overtime if required
- Strong customer service skills
- Professional and polished demeanor
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical ability
- Ability to assess stakeholders and determine appropriate actions for resolving escalated issues
- Ability to determine feasibility of insurance waivers, evaluate risk, substantiate recommendations and make recommendations

- Insurance certifications/designations such as CIC, ARM, AU, CLCS, CPCU or CISR preferred
- Commercial multifamily insurance compliance background relating to FNMA, FHLMC and FHA/GNMA preferred
- Prior leadership experience preferred
- Prior commercial real estate loan servicing experience preferred
- 4-year degree preferred
