About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute testing and/or compliance monitoring indicators for assigned business units or corporate functions
- Lead and guide the design, execution, and continuous improvement of control monitoring across risk types
- Conduct regular key control assessments against enterprise deliverables and corporate internal-control standards
- Ensure effective testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk programs, risks, and controls
- Incorporate quality monitoring, second-line testing, SOX testing, and complaints-reporting results into control-environment assessments and issue identification
- Interpret aggregated testing and monitoring results to identify trends and issues related to key controls
- Evaluate and test control-environment effectiveness for change-management initiatives
- Oversee regular analysis and reporting of control-monitoring and control-testing results
- Recommend practical updates to business-unit control, policy, procedure, and risk/control documentation
- Address material issues with senior management, including root-cause discussions and corrective-action-plan evaluation
- Collaborate with Business Unit and Risk Management partners on operational-risk initiatives and assessments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and related training
- Four years of experience in a financial institution with emphasis on risk management, audit, operations, process engineering or line of business specialty and/or equivalent education, training and experience
- Solid knowledge of risk management principles and controls, broad-based business practices, and business process and regulatory requirements
- Ability to lead quality assurance and process improvement efforts in a corporate environment
- Ability to lead and manage projects independently and in a team setting
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze problems and devise solutions, including quantitative analysis and research skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and operate without close supervision
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
- English language fluency required
- Preferred: strong knowledge of control testing with background in Audit or similar testing functions
- Preferred: background in Finance/HR control testing with a focus on regulatory reporting controls
