About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct and direct compliance risk oversight and Regulatory and Investor Change Management impact assessments for assigned business units and/or functions
  • Support compliance risk management activities, including reviewing bulletins, executing controls such as letter reviews, and completing questionnaires such as Privacy and BSA/AML
  • Ensure compliance with the Enterprise Compliance Management Policy and Framework
  • Serve as subject matter expert on regulatory and investor changes impacting Real Estate Lending, Home Equity, and Mortgage Servicing
  • Analyze, evaluate, and partner with Real Estate Lending to execute compliant processes and controls while considering inherent and residual risks
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and practical application of past, current, and emerging compliance regulations, investor/insurer guidelines, and state laws affecting Real Estate Lending processes
  • Analyze and communicate impacts from new or updated federal regulations, investor/insurer guidelines, and state laws to Real Estate Lending management
  • Analyze existing processes and procedures to identify gaps
  • Partner with Corporate Compliance, Legal, and Real Estate Lending business/process owners
  • Provide regulatory guidance in planning, developing, and executing compliance-impacted processes
  • Research, challenge, clarify, track, and analyze questions from Real Estate Lending regarding federal regulations, state laws, and investor/insurer guidelines
  • Maintain and update team and Real Estate Lending procedure documents annually

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Eight+ years of consumer mortgage industry experience focusing on regulatory compliance in mortgage origination, mortgage servicing, mortgage default, risk management, audit and/or regulatory agency compliance, with a focus on consumer mortgage lending compliance
  • Bachelor's degree in business, law or equivalent education or industry Compliance certifications (e.g. CRCM) or related training including but not limited to work experience
  • Ability to assist and provide guidance to department management to ensure processes and controls are implemented and effective
  • Compliance risk background and strong understanding of the relationship between consumer Federal regulations, Investor/Insurer guidelines, and State laws impacting Mortgage processes
  • Ability to analyze regulatory and investor changes and their impact on departments within Mortgage
  • Ability to work with management to provide feedback on risk trends and identify and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to quickly comprehend information
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, managerial, and project management skills
  • Requires minimal direct supervision
  • CRCM or supplemental education and/or experience in consumer compliance in mortgage origination underwriting, mortgage servicing, and mortgage default, including audit and/or regulatory compliance (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the origination system, e.g. Empower, and overall mortgage origination processes (preferred)
  • Knowledge of operations functions, systems, policies, and procedures for closed-end mortgage originations (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of TRID/Reg Z, investor/insurer guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA, and state laws (preferred)
  • English language fluency required
  • Must not require employer sponsorship for work visa status or employment authorization
