About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a strategic advisor and subject-matter expert on AI risk
- Help the organization navigate complex and emerging risks associated with developing and using artificial intelligence
- Address complex, novel, and cross-cutting AI risk challenges requiring coordination across multiple risk disciplines
- Work across business units to promote coordinated, risk-based approaches to AI risk management
- Build trusted relationships across functions to support AI risk governance and oversight
- Translate technical AI risks into actionable considerations for business, risk, and governance stakeholders
- Assess whether issues require evidence and control design, policy decisions, risk acceptance, or senior-level escalation
- Provide expert challenge and independent perspective on AI risk matters
- Recommend and advance AI risk methodologies, decision frameworks, governance principles, control approaches, and reusable solutions
- Promote consistent application of AI risk-management frameworks, governance standards, and control requirements
- Exercise judgment, influence stakeholders, drive risk-management outcomes, and escalate significant AI risk matters
- Coach and mentor junior team members
- Contribute to building the organization's AI risk talent, capabilities, and leadership pipeline
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ten+ years of banking, technology, operations or risk management experience
- Experience with AI lifecycle governance and risk assessment methodologies
- Knowledge of AI regulatory frameworks and compliance standards
- Strong business acumen, management experience, problem solving, critical thinking, influencing and decision-making skills
- Experience operating independently and navigating ambiguity to deliver value
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to establish credibility with all levels of management
- Ability to organize and manage complex initiatives
- Ability to deliver high-quality, executive-level work products
- Advanced degree in a related field (preferred)
- Experience addressing complex AI or emerging technology risks within a large highly regulated organization (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of foundational models, GenAI/Agentic AI systems, and associated technical and operational risks (preferred)
- Deep understanding of banking risk-management and control environments (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple risk disciplines (preferred)
- Ability to influence senior executives, risk leaders, technical leaders, and other stakeholders across organizational boundaries without direct authority (preferred)
- English language fluency required
