About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and enhance Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financial Crimes quantitative models and analytics
  • Support all phases of the model development lifecycle, including data analysis, feature engineering, model development, documentation, implementation, performance monitoring, and ongoing governance
  • Participate in model reviews and mitigation of validation findings following deployment
  • Conduct data acquisition, assess data integrity, develop models, document models, assist with implementation, and help close assurance-provider issues
  • Evaluate, develop, and maintain monitoring, performance reporting, and change-management processes
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure models fulfill business objectives
  • Ensure model development projects and processes comply with Truist model risk management and other policy requirements
  • Request or assist with mentoring and training in techniques, processes, and business knowledge
  • Support user understanding and acceptance of models and related analytics through written and verbal presentations
  • Address model questions from firm partners and assurance providers
  • Assist with identifying, recruiting, and maintaining quantitative talent

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in best practices, or equivalent financial industry experience developing, documenting, implementing, or validating quantitative models using SAS or other applicable model development software/programming tools
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to distill complex mathematical concepts into actionable results
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to continued development of personal and associate knowledge and technical skills
  • Ability to communicate and manage competing organizational priorities effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, or another applied quantitative science, or equivalent education and related training
  • Master's degree/PhD preferred
  • Relevant professional designation(s) preferred
  • Experience developing, implementing, validating, or monitoring models and analytics in AML transaction monitoring, sanctions, fraud, or other financial crimes risk management areas preferred
  • Knowledge or experience of best practices and the current regulatory environment preferred
