About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a thought leader in complex risk reporting, analytics, data, and forward-looking risk intelligence
  • Build and operate decision-ready intelligence products, including dashboards, signals, and narratives
  • Inform senior leadership about current risk, risk velocity, breadth, and potential cost
  • Support stakeholders and initiatives within the Risk Management Organization and other areas of Truist
  • Design, implement, and execute complex recurring or ad hoc reports, analyses, data, system-related, and operational tasks
  • Investigate and research unexplained variations in reports, data, and systems
  • Explain report and research results to department management and stakeholders
  • Develop and administer controls to ensure departmental process integrity
  • Evaluate and recommend departmental process improvements
  • Assist with documentation for highly complex and technical activities
  • Serve as a consultative resource on risk reporting, data, systems, and related issues
  • Engage stakeholders to identify business objectives and scope solution requirements
  • Lead moderately complex projects with heightened risks, complexity, and resource requirements
  • Play significant roles in larger initiatives
  • Mentor less experienced teammates

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Deep specialized and/or broad knowledge within a professional discipline
  • Solid understanding of key business processes and strategies
  • Knowledge of the industry's competitive landscape and market and regulatory factors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex information to varied audiences and build consensus among stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges
  • Ability to lead moderately complex projects
  • Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates
  • English language fluency required
  • Preferred: graduate degree in a related field
  • Preferred: 9+ years of related experience
  • Preferred: previous banking experience, especially in risk, reporting, business intelligence, data, systems, technology, or compliance
  • Preferred: relevant professional or technical certifications, such as Power BI/Fabric, cloud data platforms, risk, or credit certifications
  • Preferred: advanced skills in data wrangling, data engineering, data science, or related areas
  • Preferred: experience with Python, SQL including Snowflake, SAS, Power BI/DAX, Power Query, Tableau, or Qlik
  • Preferred: executive dashboard development and maintenance using governed data models, star-schema design, DAX measures, and performance tuning
  • Preferred: experience designing forward-looking or early-warning risk metrics
  • Preferred: working knowledge of credit risk concepts and data
  • Preferred: familiarity with stress testing and allowance processes, including CCAR/DFAST and CECL
  • Preferred: exposure to market, liquidity, capital, operational, financial crimes, compliance, and controls risk disciplines
  • Preferred: experience with AI and automation tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio
  • Preferred: experience preparing and presenting materials to senior executives, risk committees, or the Board
  • Preferred: understanding of risk data governance and controls, including critical data elements, data lineage, EUC policy, model and reporting governance, and regulatory reporting expectations
