About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Underwrite credit exposure for less complex relationships and actively manage a portfolio of Dealer Services relationships
- Conduct day-to-day client interaction and manage portfolio risk
- Adhere to regulatory and compliance guidelines
- Identify emerging credit concerns, sector trends, funding pressures, governance issues, liquidity challenges, and changes in donor, grant, reimbursement, or program revenue patterns
- Lead the entire commercial underwriting process internally and externally with prospects and clients
- Underwrite, structure, and document prospect and client transactions
- Independently run complex deals and largest credit relationships
- Analyze company performance, industry and competitive dynamics, and macroeconomic events affecting creditworthiness
- Provide in-depth analysis of financial statements, projections, and business plans
- Identify and mitigate key risks
- Recommend and model loan structures
- Maintain expertise in the bank’s ancillary products, including legal documentation impact and negotiation
- Manage assigned portfolio by monitoring performance and trends, defining client credit solutions, identifying issues, and following through for remediation
- Maintain risk rating integrity, conduct annual reviews, spread financial statements, and perform compliance and regulatory reviews
- Manage amendments and waivers in the assigned portfolio
- Expand client relationships through consistent and direct client calling efforts
- Develop solutions with internal product partners that meet client needs and the Bank’s risk acceptance criteria
- Partner with Investment Banking peers to deliver complex financing solutions to CCB clients
- Maintain knowledge of corporate banking, investment banking, and commercial banking solutions, market trends, and business drivers
- Share industry and economic trend information across the Portfolio Management organization
- Manage assigned Associates and Analysts
- Mentor and coach junior PMs, Associates, and Analysts
- Participate in annual performance reviews for Analysts and Associates
- Communicate regularly with clients, prospects, portfolio management teammates, relationship managers, credit risk managers, credit review partners, Technology, and audit/examiner functions
- Author independent risk recommendations, including risk rating, compliance, and underwriting recommendations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field
- At least 5+ years of related training and experience in commercial/Dealer Services credit analysis
- Mastery level proficiency with MS Office Desktop applications
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Solid written/verbal communication skills
- Sound credit skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize workflow and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- English language fluency required
- Preferred: experience in a similar role with a commercial financial institution or like experience
- Preferred: industry or sub-sector expertise
- Preferred: mastery of Truist Bank operating systems, including COMPASS, MRA, salesforce.com, and nCino
