Key responsibilities & impact

Collaborate with software developers, engineers, and stakeholders to implement and support software solutions
Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
Contribute throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle
Write clean, maintainable, efficient, and testable code
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and performance issues
Create and maintain technical documentation for software design, implementation, and testing
Ensure software solutions comply with coding, quality, security, and performance standards
Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and release processes
Develop and maintain automated unit tests and system-level test scripts
Produce requirements, design documentation, test plans, test results, and other formal project deliverables
Support and enhance legacy applications while contributing to modernization efforts
Participate in Agile/Scrum activities including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
Continuously improve technical knowledge and development practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field with 3+ years of recent software development experience or equivalent work experience
Experience with Java enterprise application development
Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and software design practices
Experience developing applications against Oracle databases, including SQL and PL/SQL
Experience with source control systems such as Git or SVN
Experience with enterprise development environments and IDEs
Knowledge of software testing and debugging techniques
Experience working in collaborative Agile development environments
Experience with Maven or other Java build automation tools
Preferred: test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, refactoring, and pair programming
Preferred: unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, JaCoCo, JMockit, or EasyMock
Preferred: Java application servers and enterprise deployment environments
Preferred: legacy enterprise application support and modernization efforts
Preferred: C#/.NET development experience
Preferred: ASP.NET, MVC, or Entity Framework experience
Preferred: experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated technical industries
Preferred: ability to quickly learn complex engineering concepts and communicate with technical stakeholders and client engineering teams
Preferred: SDLC documentation technical writing experience
Must be willing and able to pass a background investigation and drug screening
Must successfully complete required legal/compliance screening processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment
