About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Schedule patient appointments, follow-up appointments, testing, labs, and surgical bookings
- Assist with scheduling template creation and changes
- Answer phones, triage calls, respond to patient requests, and take messages
- Greet and check in patients; verify demographic and insurance information
- Assist with revenue cycle clearance, registration accuracy, referral management, and insurance verification
- Collect copayments
- Prepare medical records and documentation, including loading information into the EMR system
- Monitor patient flow and communicate delays to patients and providers
- Assist with billing charge entry and reconciliation
- Complete general office work including faxing, filing, mailing, correspondence, copying, ordering supplies, calendar management, and mail distribution
- Provide clerical support to department physicians
- Participate in performance improvement projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience supporting customers
- Bilingual
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with email, Microsoft Office programs and scheduling applications
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks
- Flexibility in work assignments
- Knowledge of third-party billing
- Ability to maintain confidential medical information
- Ability to sit frequently, stand or work occasionally, and lift 10–15 lbs
- Ability to see computer screens and read reports
- Ability to hear instructions from physicians and clinical or nursing staff
- Manual dexterity for computer keyboard operation
