About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide cost management services throughout the project lifecycle for commercial real estate construction projects across the United States
- Advise clients on procurement strategies and manage vendor prequalification
- Assess proposals, bids, and bid levelling documents; conduct bid interviews; and manage vendor appointments
- Develop, review, and present project estimates covering construction, fees, direct work, and other costs
- Present value engineering recommendations and risk assessments to clients
- Review, validate, and challenge vendor costs using benchmark data
- Establish cost reporting schedules and review and present cost reports and forecasts
- Maintain commercial risk registers and host periodic project team and vendor meetings
- Manage cost control, payment applications, contractor entitlements, change orders, and contractual disputes
- Monitor invoicing processes
- Benchmark performance against successful commissions
- Manage final accounting, post-contract audits, and account closeouts
- Conduct post-contract reviews and develop lessons-learned and training documents
- Develop project handover procedures
- Use Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, cost estimating software, and take-off software
- Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a construction-related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a cost management role in the construction industry
- RICS accredited or working towards it is valuable
- Experience supporting cost management on medium or large-sized construction projects
- Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team
- Proactive, client-focused approach
- Analytical and stakeholder management skills
