About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the key day-to-day client interface and deliver value-added cost management services
  • Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle
  • Produce and present final cost plans, estimates, budgets, and monthly cost reports
  • Review design services and general contractor cost estimates
  • Reconcile changes and validate contractor data
  • Gather project status information and prepare cost estimate updates
  • Review contractor submissions and prepare written comments and executive summaries
  • Coordinate cost information from NPA, subcontractors, and architects/engineers
  • Inform engineering priorities based on cost impact
  • Manage cost checks, valuations, cost audits, and cost validation processes
  • Manage cost impacts, contingencies, commitments, post-contract variances, and change control
  • Prepare funding data presentations and coordinate value engineering sessions
  • Provide commercial input to design optioneering and value engineering
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead client-side negotiations
  • Align cost plans with schedules to manage cash flow, accruals, and forecasting
  • Develop parametric and hybrid cost models for estimating, benchmarking, and scenario analysis
  • Leverage historical data, market intelligence, and industry trends to improve cost outputs
  • Support AI-enabled cost modeling tools and scalable cost intelligence platforms
  • Collaborate with technical teams to translate workflows into digital solutions
  • Partner with clients and project teams to align scope, cost, and delivery strategy
  • Communicate cost and risk insights to senior stakeholders
  • Contribute to enterprise cost strategies, capital planning, and long-range forecasting
  • Mentor team members and drive continuous improvement
  • Track commission margins, fees, resource forecasts, and financial reports using internal software
  • Maintain business management systems, delivery methodologies, and SOX controls where applicable

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a construction-related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in a construction-industry cost management role
  • Experience leading cost management on medium or large, medium- to high-complexity construction projects
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering
  • Excellent communication skills
  • RICS accreditation or working toward it preferred
  • Construction consultancy experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a client-facing role
  • USA-wide work location
