About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical systems in construction projects
- Review project plans and specifications to determine scope of work and required materials
- Lead comprehensive cost management plans with project teams
- Analyze project requirements and provide value engineering options
- Perform cost risk analysis and provide input into value engineering
- Communicate and collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Use industry-specific estimating software and tools to prepare estimates
- Provide estimating advice, guidance, and analysis to project stakeholders
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of estimating processes and methodologies
- Prepare formal estimating reports covering quantities, costs, escalation, assumptions, and clarifications
- Mentor and support junior estimators
- Support large-scale, mission-critical hyperscale and enterprise data center construction projects throughout the project lifecycle
- Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a construction-related field
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience
- Experience in a construction cost management role such as Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Cost Controls
- Experience providing conceptual estimating services and/or pre-construction services at a construction management or related firm
- Experience supporting large-scale construction projects and programs
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as value management and value engineering
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of high-voltage and low-voltage systems, power distribution, substations, emergency power systems, switchgear, UPS infrastructure, grounding, controls, and communications systems
- Ability to use industry-specific estimating software and tools
- Ability to prepare formal estimating reports, including quantity, cost, escalation, assumptions, and clarifications
