About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead planning, analysis, and design of major water resources infrastructure projects for public- and private-sector clients
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including dam safety, reservoir routing, surface water modeling, flood control design, and hydraulic system evaluations
- Lead design of large-diameter pipelines, aqueducts, open channels, tunnels, pumping stations, and associated hydraulic infrastructure
- Lead feasibility studies and engineering of dams, reservoirs, weirs, diversion works, and water regulation and storage infrastructure
- Lead potable water supply, regional water treatment, wastewater treatment, water reuse, recycled water, and advanced treatment projects
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, design reports, and supporting documentation
- Prepare construction documents, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and quantity take-offs
- Apply local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and design standards
- Oversee and mentor Project Engineers
- Collaborate with Project Managers on design tasks, project coordination, schedules, budgets, and communications
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and participate in internal, client, agency, and stakeholder meetings
- Develop proposals, scopes, technical approaches, fee support, SOQs, and technical write-ups
- Support client service and maintain professional stakeholder relationships
- Present technical information to clients, agencies, and internal teams
- Collaborate across engineering, environmental, construction, and digital services
- Represent TYPSA in professional organizations, technical committees, and industry events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in water-related engineering disciplines
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering major hydraulic infrastructure projects, including large-scale transmission systems, dams, reservoirs, or regional water treatment facilities
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; ability to obtain California license by comity in a reasonable timeframe
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale hydraulic infrastructure projects
- Experience working with municipal, state, and/or federal agencies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and engineering judgment skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentations
- Experience with industry-standard engineering software and modeling tools
- Experience with hydraulic simulation platforms such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPANET, SWMM, eInfoWorks, or equivalent
- Experience with dam break and reservoir routing models
- Experience with GIS-based hydrologic analysis tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support projects across different geographic locations
- Travel as necessary to support project and client needs
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier
