About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, direct, manage, and oversee assigned projects
  • Mentor and monitor Project Managers
  • Ensure company goals and objectives are accomplished within schedule and budget parameters
  • Communicate with management, technical staff, clients, project partners, stakeholders, and government contacts
  • Direct and manage engineering teams focused on transportation-related projects
  • Support projects in other geographic areas
  • Meet with clients to prepare or validate proposed scopes of work
  • Prepare fee proposals for civil engineering design and construction observation work
  • Develop external project schedules in coordination with clients
  • Serve as the primary project contact for clients and subconsultants
  • Coordinate technical requirements with project teams
  • Develop work plans, internal schedules, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
  • Coordinate with Group Leaders to secure resource commitments
  • Update Group Leaders and Practice Leaders on schedule changes and production resource needs
  • Manage and review project performance for scope, schedule, budget, and quality adherence
  • Notify clients in advance when contract modifications are required
  • Lead complex projects and support other projects or phases of large projects
  • Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, project partners, and company staff
  • Build strong working relationships throughout the industry
  • Contribute to strategic planning and development
  • Coordinate meetings, resources, and presentations
  • Regularly monitor and mentor Project Managers' performance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or a related field
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of transportation, Project Engineer/Project Manager experience
  • Post-graduate degree and registration with the Spanish Civil Engineer Association or an equivalently recognized international registration/chartering, the ability to test and pass the PE exam within a year of starting with the company, or has passed the PE exam
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) and eligible for registration in the States where the company has offices is preferred
  • DOT and municipality experience in all facets of engineering is preferred
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills
  • Extensive technical writing, oral presentation, facilitation, and executive-level synthesis experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, develop work, and provide excellent client service
  • Ability to coordinate meetings, resources, and presentations
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Ability to manage challenging projects in fast-paced and high-pressure environments
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges, multitask, and work with minimal direction
  • Working knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, project records, and diverse populations
  • Some travel may be required
