About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of infrastructure engineers responsible for compute, storage, network, data container, and cloud platform services
- Provide day-to-day oversight, coaching, and performance development for engineering staff
- Establish team objectives and manage resource allocation
- Own lifecycle management of physical and virtual infrastructure
- Ensure high availability, security, and performance through monitoring, automation, and capacity planning
- Lead patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and infrastructure right-sizing
- Design a forward-looking hybrid architecture with Enterprise Architecture
- Oversee hybrid cloud infrastructure operations across IaaS, PaaS, and container platforms
- Develop team expertise in AWS and Azure
- Partner with DevOps on orchestration and control-plane systems across on-premises and cloud environments
- Manage cloud tenancy configurations, landing zones, and resource controls
- Promote infrastructure-as-code and config-as-code practices
- Manage enterprise networking services including routing, switching, load balancing, DNS/DHCP, VPNs, and firewall integration
- Ensure connectivity across datacenters, cloud environments, branch offices, and remote endpoints
- Support network troubleshooting and optimization
- Maintain vendor partnerships for network changes
- Partner with application engineering, DevOps, and production operations teams
- Provide infrastructure support for deployments, migrations, and production cutovers
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis as an infrastructure escalation point
- Maintain platform engineering standards, documentation, and operational runbooks
- Support vendor selection, contract reviews, and third-party service delivery
- Align infrastructure practices with governance, security, and compliance requirements
- Support governance, internal audit, and external audit processes
- Oversee deployment, scaling, and management of data container platforms and data virtualization engines
- Ensure reliability, performance, security, orchestration, registry management, and runtime policies for containerized environments
- Define configuration standards, monitoring practices, and automation pipelines for containerized data platforms
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent work experience in an enterprise technology environment
- At least 10+ years supporting computer systems at scale in server and end-user environments
- At least 6+ years supporting enterprise-scale server environments in both on-prem and cloud environments
- At least 2+ years in a supervisory role
- Deep distributed systems expertise
- Experience with physical and virtual infrastructure, server environments, storage arrays, hypervisors, networking components, hybrid cloud, IaaS, PaaS, and container platforms
- AWS and Azure expertise
- Knowledge of orchestration and control-plane systems
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and config-as-code practices
- Knowledge of routing, switching, load balancing, DNS/DHCP, VPNs, and firewall integration
- Familiarity with SOX, NIST, and CIS benchmarks
- Experience with data container platforms, SQL Server, Cloudbase, orchestration, registry management, runtime policies, and Delphix
- Ability to handle off-hour and emergency escalations
- No certifications are specifically required; listed certifications are useful but optional
