About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver classroom, simulator, dockside, and live-water instruction using approved lesson plans, checklists, and training materials.
  • Prepare boats, control stations, communications equipment, power, spares, and student materials for each training event.
  • Coach operators, maintainers, launch and recovery crews, and customer teams through system setup, pre-launch checks, underway operations, recovery, and basic field maintenance.
  • Assess student performance against defined standards, document qualification recommendations, and create targeted remediation plans.
  • Lead safety briefs and enforce weather, water-condition, operating-area, communications, and site requirements.
  • Stop or adapt training when conditions, equipment, or people are not ready.
  • Teach abnormal and emergency procedures through simulation and controlled rehearsals before live-water exercises.
  • Maintain attendance, operating logs, evaluation results, equipment discrepancy reports, and customer handoff records.
  • Protect sensitive customer information, imagery, telemetry, and operational data.
  • Contribute to after-action reviews and instructor calibration, providing recommendations to the Training Lead.
  • Represent UFORCE professionally with customers and partners, communicating system limitations, risks, and readiness honestly.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hands-on USV, maritime or small-boat operating experience, with sound judgment around launch, recovery, dockside activity, weather, and water conditions.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly, demonstrate procedures, and coach learners with different levels of experience.
  • A disciplined approach to safety, including the confidence to pause or stop an activity when required.
  • Ability to assess practical performance objectively, give constructive feedback, and maintain clear evaluation records.
  • Confidence working with technical operating systems, communications equipment, and field troubleshooting.
  • Strong preparation, organization, and documentation skills, with ownership of assigned equipment, students, and training responsibilities.
  • A collaborative, coachable approach: you teach approved standards, welcome observation, and escalate proposed changes rather than creating unapproved procedures.
  • Professional communication and discretion when handling customer-sensitive or operational information.
  • Willingness to travel and work in dockside, live-water, austere, and high-tempo environments.
  • Direct experience operating or instructing on USVs is nice to have.
  • Familiarity with command-and-control systems, ground control stations, mission planning, sensors, payloads, and datalinks is nice to have.
  • Experience delivering structured technical or maritime training using simulators and practical assessments is nice to have.
  • Experience supporting customer demonstrations, exercises, or operational handoffs is nice to have.
  • Familiarity with formal qualification processes, controlled training materials, and after-action reviews is nice to have.
  • Experience with boat preparation, trailer and ramp operations, batteries and power systems, or basic field maintenance is nice to have.
