About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage audit professionals through planning, execution, and conclusion of audit engagements
- Ensure engagement timelines, budgets, and firm standards are met
- Build and maintain client relationships as the primary audit-engagement contact
- Provide strategic recommendations to improve clients’ financial processes, controls, and reporting
- Develop audit strategies and plans with partners and directors
- Allocate resources, assign roles, and develop audit programs
- Conduct complex audit procedures and review workpapers
- Assess audit findings for accuracy and integrity of financial statements and disclosures
- Monitor engagement progress and resolve challenges to meet milestones
- Apply evolving accounting standards, regulatory changes, and industry trends to engagements
- Provide expert guidance on complex accounting and auditing issues
- Coach, mentor, and develop audit staff and senior team members
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify skill-development opportunities
- Ensure audit documentation, reports, and conclusions comply with firm standards and regulations
- Implement best practices and methodologies to improve audit quality
- Identify opportunities to expand the firm’s client base and service offerings
- Contribute to client proposals, presentations, and networking activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 5–8 years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of relevant audit experience within a CPA firm, with progressive leadership responsibilities
- CPA license is required; equivalent certifications are required for IT audit
- Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement
- Specific positions may require additional industry or specialization certifications
- Experience in a professional service environment, such as a CPA firm, financial consulting firm, or similar setting (preferred)
- Will supervise subordinate team members
- Ability to sit at a desk and work in front of a computer screen for prolonged periods
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
- Ability to travel frequently and unpredictably depending on client needs
