About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide comprehensive and proactive support to members of Research England's Senior Leadership Team
  • Act as a key link between the Senior Leadership Team and teams across Research England
  • Work with Executive Services colleagues to prepare senior leaders, optimize their time and focus on priorities
  • Monitor upcoming issues and decisions, recognize urgent issues and escalate them appropriately
  • Gather intelligence and conduct horizon scanning to keep senior leaders informed and effective
  • Undertake and manage administrative support activities to high professional standards and within deadlines
  • Manage diary planning, scheduling and travel arrangements for senior leaders
  • Prioritize demands on senior leaders' time
  • Monitor correspondence and emails, redirect queries or respond on behalf of senior leaders where appropriate
  • Escalate issues and maintain accurate records and audit trails
  • Interface with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant experience as a Personal/Executive Assistant, with experience of providing high-quality support to senior staff
  • Confident, assertive and co-operative style, with ability to build positive relationships and deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with different audiences
  • Ability to write clear, accurate correspondence tailored to the audience
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage workload, changing priorities and competing demands in a flexible and proactive way
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Resilience and ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Creative, flexible and positive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to question established ideas, generate solutions and collaborate to achieve timely results
  • Ability to show initiative, manage ambiguity, think and adapt quickly, and operate independently when required
  • Right to work in the UK; UKRI cannot provide sponsorship for candidates not eligible to work in the UK
  • Baseline Personnel Security Screening (BPSS) is a pre-condition of employment
