About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and oversee the entire NERC Estates Transformation Programme
- Ensure alignment with the NERC Estates Strategy
- Translate organisational objectives into structured programmes with deliverables, schedules, dependencies and resource requirements
- Advocate for the programme and its benefits within UKRI and beyond
- Oversee programme governance, strategic risk management and assurance activities
- Set budgets and provide close financial tracking and assurance
- Own and maintain programme plans, risk registers, dashboards, decision logs and benefits information
- Engage senior stakeholders across NERC Centres and UKRI
- Ensure building safety information is collected, verified and accurately handed over to statutory duty holders in support of Golden Thread requirements
- Harmonise project interfaces with other estate-related workstreams
- Promote data-driven decision making and continuous improvement
- Prepare executive-level reports, briefing papers and updates
- Deputise for the Associate Director for Estates and Sustainability when required
- Work closely with NERC Head of Estates and Centre leads to ensure seamless delivery of business-as-usual and transformation activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience in an estates leadership role
- Experience leading and managing complex estates or capital programmes, delivering outcomes within defined time, cost and scope parameters
- NEC, APM, RICS or IWFM accreditation
- Strong financial oversight capability, including budget setting, cost control, forecasting and transparent financial reporting
- Experience producing, maintaining and governing programme control documentation
- Strength in project and programme governance, structured oversight, assurance processes and compliance with organisational standards
- Ability to identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience of decarbonisation activity within the built environment
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly to meet operational needs
- Must satisfy Baseline Personnel Security Screening (BPSS) as a pre-condition of employment
- Sponsorship applicants and dependants must pay Home Office application costs upfront; applicants must have or obtain the right to work in the UK through applicable sponsorship arrangements
