About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support ESRC internal communication channels, including ESRC News publishing and maintaining intranet content
  • Support internal campaigns and engagement events covering training, line management, organisational change and strategy
  • Support the ESRC corporate training programme by scheduling events, promoting activities, managing attendance and evaluation
  • Provide interview support and manage unexpected on-the-day issues
  • Maintain key Operations Team documentation
  • Manage the shared mailbox and general operational queries
  • Provide secretariat support, including meeting arrangements, agendas, papers and minutes
  • Identify issues and trends and collaborate with ESRC, UKRI and UK Shared Business Service colleagues on continuous improvement
  • Provide cover and business continuity for other team members' business-critical activities
  • Act as a functional champion, such as Purchase Order champion
  • Handle sensitive data and situations while delivering high-quality work
  • Support strategic operational projects and respond to changing priorities and tight deadlines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A degree in a relevant discipline, or demonstrable experience of working in a relevant environment or role
  • Planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise and manage multiple or complex activities
  • Quality-focused, with demonstrable attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to solve problems and overcome challenges
  • Effective personal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence speaking with internal audiences face-to-face and dealing with sensitive issues calmly and professionally
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with team members, stakeholders and others at all levels
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible to adapt, change and cope with ambiguity
  • IT competency, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Must undergo Baseline Personnel Security Screening (BPSS) as a pre-condition of employment
  • Full-time or part-time availability (minimum 0.8 FTE)
  • Willingness to travel to stakeholder engagements, including occasional overnight stays and work outside standard office hours
